Puff the Magic Dragon

Lived by the sea..and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Hanalei....

The Dragons in July were inspired by Kona Bay Fabric designer Nobu Fujiyama’s Dragon Moon Collection. It is also an ode to Da Textile Samurai, Douglas Eagleson who recently closed Kona Bay Fabrics. It is almost impossible to find this fabric today, so I am delighted to be able to incorporate some of the beautiful images in this quillo collection.

36 Views of Mount Fuji is a series of large, color wood-block prints depicting Mount Fuji in differing seasons and weather conditions from a variety of different places and distances and includes the famous print The Great Wave of Kanagawa (Katsushika Hokusai). This powerful image has been described as ‘deceptively simple as it is mesmerizing” and is part of Kona Bay’s Emperor Collection.

Japanese fabric pairs well with batiks and offer the perfect complement to the Dragon Collection.

...Things made by hand with real craftsmanship are becoming

a thing of the past.

Things made by hand

-- and with heart --

things that possess integrity

and require time, thought,

and love to create

...are disappearing...
