When my nephew Eric told me that he had eloped with Marie, the love of his life, the first thing I said to him is...I can't wait to make your wedding quillos! I am honored to have the privilege of making wedding quillos because it is about capturing the beauty of the relationship and interpreting it with fabric.
When I asked Marie about ideas for her quillo, she told me, "My favorite color is purple and I like purple and black together. I like the feeling of dusk. Whenever I see your designs, they usually remind me of different parts of the sky for some reason and I think my favorite part is either dusk or twilight.
And of course, when I asked Eric,he was very direct... Red and Black...or Black and Gold...UCF colors.
Fortunately, I had been collecting the Dragon Moon Fabric by Kona Bay for special occasions such as this!. It is extremely rare...and was the foundation of the overall design.
These quillos are a celebration of balance...
Sun and Moon, Yin and Yang, Masculine and Feminine.
The Dragons are powerful symbols that represent strength and protection.
Marie's dragons on the inside of the quillo while Eric's are on the outside
to highlight the importance of balance in any relationship.
