Have You Thanked Your Teacher Today?
A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning! ~brad henry
Guru Purnima is about showing gratitude to your teacher. It’s about thanking them for selflessly sharing their gifts. I'd like to thank my teacher, Carrie Hanna @artiststrong for all she has done for me.
We share a connection through mandalas…
and then I was invited to join The Circle.
It is with your support that Quiloha was born.
I am grateful to your for...
Learning to draw a mandala
the Art of Batching
the Importance of Daily Practice
the Love of Bubbles
...and so much more!
I am drawn to batiks. I selected this fabric because it reminded me of your logo, both in the colors and the shapes. I love that we also share a love for the color turquoise.
Initially, I was going to use the mandala designed with bubbles for the pocket, but I opted instead to use this Hawaiian fabric. I couldn’t believe how the shape of the hibiscus was replicated in each fabric.
The inside fabric uses the color orange. I remember listening to a podcast in the Circle where you talk about your new found love for the color and knew I had to incorporate it in the quillo.
I’m drawn to colors in different seasons of my life. Orange represents transition and change. I associate the color with strength, energy, vibrancy... It also represents the earth, grounding, connection... sunsets and rust....the orange sand I got to play in the deserts of Dubai and Oman….
The patterns remind me of bubbles, mandalas, circles….If you look very closely, the blue shapes look like dolphins. I’m so glad the orange reminds you of the sand in Dubai…because it will be warm like the sun on your skin.
I couldn’t resist including some bubble wands. I hope you always remember to share the joy of blowing bubbles, because we all know its more fun in a group!
Blessings to you Carrie for opening your heart and soul. It is for this reason that I am honored to have sewn this quillo for you!!
