A Kid in a Fabric Store
The Possibilities are endless!!
Did you have a Candy Store when you were growing up? We did!
You'd go in and grab a brown paper bag and fill it up with penny candy....Mary Janes, Bit-o-Honey, Smarties, Gummie Bears, Bazooka Bubble Gum...we all had our favorites. That was an experience that I will never forget.
Today, that expression has come to mean that you are SO EXCITED by your surroundings, that you act like a kid.
That is me in a fabric store!
When people come with me to select fabric, they become overwhelmed. Their eyes glaze over. They ask me how I do it. I simply look for something that grabs me and use that color/design to seek complimentary colors. Of course, there are times when nothing grabs me. But that's ok...because there is always the next time.
Quillos are my palettes. I use fabric to transform the beauty around me into a practical art. As an artist, I transform this creative energy into each quillo I sew in order to share with others.
This week marks the 6 month anniversary of the launch of Quiloha. I cannot tell you how amazing this experience has been. And it would not have happened without the support of each and every one of you!!
Quiloha allows me to use all the business, education and marketing skills that I have learned to build a community of people who appreciate things that are Hand Sewn and Home Grown. This allows me to make art every single day and share it with others. I want my art to reflect my values. I want to be part of a community that wants to make a change in the world for the better, one quillo at a time!
